EcoMobility
Although the numbers of public transportation and users in Taiwan are increasing, in comparison, there is still a huge number of private transportation like private vehicles. These not only leads to air pollution and high emission but also cause traffic congestion and low traffic efficiency. Pollutions will harm the environment and human health in the long term. Thus, ICLEI uses the term “EcoMobility” to accelerate the advocacy, which describes travelling through integrated, socially inclusive, and environmentally friendly options (like walking or cycling etc.). It also includes car-sharing and public transportation. And we see this as a major capacity-building project. To further implement this initiative, ICLEI launched a triennial event that is held in different cities, EcoMobility World Festivals. The citizens in the pilot city don’t rely on personal vehicles but use environmentally friendly options. Demonstrating a forward-looking lifestyle and creating a culture of urban sustainable transport. Also, presenting the different governance and solutions of various host cities.
ICLEI also launched the 2017-2021 EcoLogistics advocacy, which discussed the issue with urban freight, like the emissions and impacts on health from waste collection trucks to construction trucks or commercial related trucks. These issues normally happen in and around cities. Thus, the EcoLogistic project is here to connect cities, experts, enterprises and international organizations. Facilitating the development of sustainable urban freight.
